The Talented Life Of Anton Yelchin Remembered In New Film..

(Joshua Gilmore-Staff Writer)

Anton Yelchin was born in 1989 and tragically taken from this world in 2016, but this talented individual’s impact is still being felt to this date. You can quickly look through Anton’s Imdb listings and realize he was wise beyond his year, as his talents are forever linked to some of the biggest names in Hollywood.
Anton was a talent in every aspect of his life and his hobbies beyond acting were known by a random few, until now and that is in thanks to the new documentary “Love,Antosha”

“Love, Antosha” is the new documentary from director Garret Price and this is a rare portrait of a young talent that easily transcended the typical ideals of young Hollywood, by constantly raising his game in front of and behind the camera. This story is presented through movie clips and home movies, these images are punctuated by the people that worked and knew Anton recounting their friendships with a young talent gone way too soon.
This film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to glowing reviews and has been labeled as “heartbreaking” and a reminder of how one person can impact so many lives in an unfortunate short time.

“Love,Antosha” will be entering theaters on August 2.

These Bananas Are Going To Split Some Skulls..

The world of children’s television was an interesting landscape in the late 60s to 70, there was Sesame Street at the top of the mountain and there were the strange, off-beat offerings. The list of off-beat creators can run a mile long, but two individuals were prominent on this list and they were the Krofft Brothers.
Sid and Marty Krofft were the creative minds behind a lot of classic television, from H.R. Pufnstuf to Wonderbug and the memorable group known as The Banana Splits, if you might have forgotten or you are too young to remember, here is the opening to their television series that ran from 1968-1970..

“No drugs involved. You can’t do drug when you’re making a show. Maybe after, but not during. We’re bizarre, that’s all,” Marty Krofft said that in a 2005 USA Today interview and that statement rings true all these years later and one of their creations is getting the hard R rated horror treatment.

If the original wasn’t insane enough, Jeff Elinoff and Scott Thomas poured some blood all over it. Elinoff and Thomas are the writer’s behind this creation, with Danishka Esterhazy in the director’s helm and Blue Ribbon Content is the studio unleashing this film onto the world.
This movie does not have a set release date, but is expect to be released this year. As more is revealed on the “What The Fuck” level production, stay locked into NowhereCalifornia.com for any new information.

A Saga To Be Concluded..

As the saga continues, the first teaser trailer of the episode 9 has been revealed to the world and, with some time passing, the debates are still at a fever pitch and the legion of Star Wars loyalists continue to replay our first taste of “The Rise Of Skywalker.”

The Christmas gift that keeps on giving and a continuing pattern for this leg of the Star Wars universe, this trailer gives our first look into the conclusion of the “Skywalker Saga” and the cinematic aftermath of “The Last Jedi”.

The time frame from episode 8 to 9 hasn’t been set in stone, but in this trailer we get a glimpse of where our favorite characters are at and a quick vision of the legendary Carrie Fisher getting to appear in this finale. JJ Abrams and the Fisher family decide to use unused footage to bring our princess and general to the screen one more time.

The trailer for “Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker” brings us many moments from both sides of the force, as no one can deny their excitement from seeing Lando back in the pilot’s seat of the Millennium Falcon to the goose bump inducing shock of hearing that all too familiar laugh of the emperor.

There is still a long road ahead for the movie going public and the guys from Nowhere recently gathered to discuss this trailer. Also, they take a look back at this recent trilogy in the unforgettable franchise.

Goodbye Mr. Andrews

luke(Douglas Porter.Staff Writer)

It’s been 10 minutes since I learned about Luke Perry’s death and I have not been able to stop crying. Its weird how celebrities can gain entry into our deepest emotions, that when we lose them its like losing a member of your family. I always knew of Luke’s work from 90210 but having not been the right age for that show it never came into my watching ethos, but I always saw Luke on other things. It was always nice to know that Luke was a genuine person. He didn’t let his teen fame make him someone who was fake and superficial. Luke really entered my thoughts on a show called Riverdale. He played Fred Andrews, father of Archie Andrews, and the BEST DAMN parent on the show.

Watching Luke play Mr. Andrews really spoke to me on not just a son level, but a father level as well. Fred cared for nothing more than Archie’s well-being. He never put himself before Archie, even if that meant letting Archie be a spoiled, rotten, brat. He made me appreciative of my own father. I saw much of both my father and myself in Fred, and I on more than one occasion told myself that he was the father I hoped to be. Surrounded by teen angst, and melodrama, here was a character who was pure, of good moral standing, and a caring individual who took homeless gang members into his home and cared for them when the whole city had turned their back on them.

Many times, we see actors portray different characters, from good to evil, loving to hated, but there was a real part of Luke Perry that had entered the part of Fred Andrews. It is with a saddened heart that I have to say goodbye to you. Goodbye, Mr Andrews, and Rest in Love and Peace, Luke Perry.

UltraViolet Fades To Black..

(Joshua Gilmore-Staff Writer)

The digital media viewing landscape will be changing in July, as the UltraViolet digital movie storage service will be shutting down on July 31,2019.

The UltraViolet service launched in 2011 and allowed their users to store their movie library in cloud, this cloud would allow the user to watch their movie from multiple devices and locations. As this concept was top of the line in 2011, in the streaming world of today, this service has become lost in the pack.

Now, before you curse the movie storage gods, the company behind UltraViolet has released a statement to assure the current users.

“Between January 31 and July 31, 2019, you can continue to access your UltraViolet movies and TV shows through the retailers linked to your UltraViolet Library,” the company said. “If your library is not currently linked to a retailer or if you would like to link to additional participating retailers, select one or more retailers to link to your UltraViolet library”.

A Dark Phoenix Returns..

In the comic book work, the term is commonly known as retcon and the movie going public, we are treated to the repeated trend of reboots. Now, these world cross paths again and the world will receive another retelling of the Dark Phoenix saga, as the trailer for next year’s “X-Men:Dark Phoenix” has been released.

Now, for anyone new to this world, the first time this story arch hit the big screen was in the 2006 movie “X-Men:The Last Stand” In “The Last Stand” the Dark Phoenix was a part of a larger story that revolved around the possible mutant cure, but some of the more hardcore X-Men followers knew this was a type of story that could hold its own in a full feature film.

After watching the trailer, it is easy to see that this story line stands front and center in all of its glory. This movie continues the evolution of the current X-Men era with a harsher edge, as loyalties are in question and, in true blockbuster movie form, humanity is threatened.

As with recent high profiled releases, this film had its original release date changed and reshoots were ordered by the studio. The question could be asked about if this will be an issue with the public view and I will not fall into that debate. This film will probably close the X-Men book for 20th Century Fox, before these mutants fall into the Disney fold and we can only hope this last stand will be one to remember.

The Finish Line Is In View…

The production for a movie can be looked at in three parts. There is pre-production and the actual film production, then the filmmaker has one final lap with post production and this is there chance to finish their dream that started on a blank page.

A few months ago, April to be exact, we shared the IndieGoGo project for the film “Life Insurance Lottery”. This project was to help through the filming process and now is the time for post-production and this is your chance to have your hands or some blood (depending on the perks you pick) in some great independent cinema.

As a contributor to this project, every dollar you pledge will help put the finishing touches on this production. The cast and crew of “Life Insurance Lottery” have a great film that deserves a final product that can stand toe to toe with bigger budget Hollywood grind.

Check out this project’s IndieGoGo page and learn about the making of this movie, then spread the word and throw your money into this film’s final cut.

A Look From Nowhere At Stan & Ollie

hardy
(Joshua Gilmore-Staff Writer)

The greatest doubles act of Hollywood’s golden age is getting a second life in the digital age, as an untold story from the careers of Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy gets the biography film treatment in the upcoming movie “Stan & Ollie”

“Stan & Ollie” follows Laurel and Hardy, Steve Coogan as Stan Laurel and an almost unrecognizable John C. Reilly as Oliver Hardy, as they tour through post-war Britain and Ireland. The purpose for the tour was to reignite their film career, but this time overseas ended up being their swan song as performers.

This film is directed by Jon S. Baird, who recently directed the film “Filth” and was written by Jeff Pope, who wrote the 2013 movie “Philomena”. “Stan & Ollie” does not have a set North American release date, but from the looks of the trailer, this movie will make a lot of noise when it hits the silver screen.hardypost

As strange as this will sound, we have actually done spin off episodes to our “Why Not?” series and every April we ask the different question “Why?!” The differences with these episodes are the quality of the movie we focus on and this edition we reach close to the bottom of the barrel with the 1980 Cannon Film “The Apple”, by the way this is a feature length commentary.
