Comic Con@HOME: Kevin Smith And Killroy Were BLEEPING There..

The first ever San Diego Comic-Con@HOME is a wrap and the only con crud case is traced to some under cooked pizza rolls in Oxnard. Anyways, there is a lot of announcements and other important news that came from this event, but we have to take a traditional trip to HALL H and check in with the Comic-Con icon Kevin Smith.


Well, I should correct myself, in a year where some traditions have had to change and Comic Con is a great example of this, this traditional trip detoured from HALL H to the Fat Cave. Kevin was true to form and lead the viewers through the current happenings in his universe. We learned about new merchandise and the current status of his future projects, but the biggest surprise came in the form of the world’s first look at “KILLROY WAS HERE”


This film was written by Kevin Smith and Andy McElfresh (co-host of the Edumacation podcast) Also, “KILLROY WAS HERE”  has been in the works for awhile and the concept predates Kevin’s heart attack with Krampus in the lead monster role. Now, that time has passed and another Krampus movie has been released, we get KILLROY and the world is definitely ready.

Kevin describes KILLROY as “kind of like a kid Avenger… if you fuck with kids, KILLROY will show up.”  That is pretty evident from the trailer and some evil fucks will be on the business end of Roy’s rage. The cast is stacked with some of Kevin Smith’s regulars and some new talented individuals are in the mix.

Currently, “KILLROY WAS HERE” does not have a release date or studio for distribution, so continue to watch this site or Kevin Smith’s site/social network for any breaking news.

The world of children’s television was an interesting landscape in the late 60s to 70, there was Sesame Street at the top of the mountain and there were the strange, off-beat offerings. The list of off-beat creators can run a mile long, but two individuals were prominent on this list and they were the Krofft Brothers.
Sid and Marty Krofft were the creative minds behind a lot of classic television, from H.R. Pufnstuf to Wonderbug and the memorable group known as The Banana Splits, if you might have forgotten or you are too young to remember, here is the opening to their television series that ran from 1968-1970..

“No drugs involved. You can’t do drug when you’re making a show. Maybe after, but not during. We’re bizarre, that’s all,” Marty Krofft said that in a 2005 USA Today interview and that statement rings true all these years later and one of their creations is getting the hard R rated horror treatment.

If the original wasn’t insane enough, Jeff Elinoff and Scott Thomas poured some blood all over it. Elinoff and Thomas are the writer’s behind this creation, with Danishka Esterhazy in the director’s helm and Blue Ribbon Content is the studio unleashing this film onto the world.
This movie does not have a set release date, but is expect to be released this year. As more is revealed on the “What The Fuck” level production, stay locked into NowhereCalifornia.com for any new information.

Universal Monsters Reborn.. Again.

In what seemed a hopeless dream, Universal announced plans that they were no longer going to pursue their remakes of the original monster movies. But news broke today that Universal is handing the reigns over to horror juggernaut Blumhouse Productions. With a plethora of options to choose from Blumhouse announced they were beginning with the 1933 classic The Invisible Man.

Further detailing the announcement Leight Whannel will be directing the production. Whannel the co-creator of the Saw, and Insidious franchise. Recently breaking out solo with the film Upgrade, Whannel will also be overseeing as a producer. Previously Johnny Depp was attached to star, but with this transition Depp is no longer attached to the project. Other attached talent to the remakes include Javier Bordem, and Russel Crowe.

No release date has been announced, we will report further details as they break.

This will be the first edition of a new monthly reminder that Nowhere California started out as a podcast and, hopefully, open the door for new listeners to discover the project that started it all.

This will be the location for some of our newest episodes and flashback to Nowhere’s past. The audio quality might differ, but that same insanity will be there.     It’s not a huge secret that Nowhere California loves to shine a spotlight on the world of independent creativity. Also, if there is a project that sticks out to our team, we will keep tabs on the minds behind the projects and George Wassil is one of those minds.

    George is the creator of the comic book series “Oh, Hell” and Nowhere California first crossed paths with him at the 5th annual Long Beach Comic and Horror Con in 2013. Since that first conversation, we have been lucky enough to talk with George on five different occasions.

    Now, before you ask about the fourth conversation, here is our most recent conversation with George from the Stan Lee’s 2017 Los Angeles Comic Con.

Stan Lee’s Los Angeles Comic Con for 2017 has entered the books and the time has come for Nowhere California to share our adventures at this most excellent event. In the next few weeks, we will be unleashing our favorite moments and conversations for the world to enjoy. In the first installment, the guys from Nowhere have one hoot of a conversation and talk with Carlos Alazraqui.

     Carlos is the multi talented performer from in front of the camera and behind the microphone. The list of characters he has created and voiced can stretch for a decent length, but for one member of the Nowhere California team (namely me) the top of the list will always be held by a certain wallaby named Rocko. Luckily, that wallaby will be returning to thee small screen and to the advanced modern world in 2018 with a new “Rocko’s Modern Life” movie entitled “Static Cling.”

It’s time for our final conversation from Nowhere California’s adventures at the 2017 Long Beach Comic Expo and this final conversation will help you explore your untapped powers, but not in the self-help/Tony Robbins way and more in the way of MARVEL/DC. In this installment, the guys from Nowhere talk with Kyle Marlett.

Kyle is the creative mind behind the website MutantPowers.net, this is a site that will help the most normal comic book fan unlock some truly unique gifts and these “gifts” come in the form of specially created magic tricks/special effect.

Kyle’s life and love for nerd culture has been an interesting journey, so you know that this was a conversation that needed to take place and it was a pleasure of the Nowhere California team to talk with this creative mind. The Time Is Now: A Look At 2 KICKSTARTER Projects..

It has never been a secret with Nowhere California that we have made it a point to shine our spotlight on the world of independent creativity. The projects can come from any form of media, if it will spark our interest, we will do everything possible to spread the word.

At the 2017 WonderCon, we crossed paths with two projects that are currently attempting to gain funds through Kickstarter and these campaigns are in their final days. We want to give you the vital information to these projects and, if you see fit, we hope that you will take the time out to support these creative talents.

The first project comes from the mind of Jemma Young and the goal of this project is to release the first printed collection of “Children of Eldair”. “Children of Eldair” is the comic book that Jemma created and current can be seen online at www.eldair.com

This comic follows Embera and Koe, as they try to piece together Embera’s mysterious past and Koe takes a journey through multiple worlds. This description might be basic, but the reality of the work is amazing.

The next project is from a past visitor to Nowhere California and the man behind Wannabe Press, Russell Nohelty. Russell is in the final days of this successful project, but there is still time to have your name attached to something special.

This project is for “Monsters and Other Scary Shit: A Monster Anthology”. This is a collection of monster themed entries and these entries are fueled by a group of creators that are ready to unleash something special.

 In the past our convention coverage, our focus would stay on the art of the comic book pages and the creative minds that put pen to page. In this installment of our adventures at the 2017 Long Beach Comic Expo, we are leaving the pages and moving to the wall, so we can talk with artist Michael Matsumoto.

 Michael is an illustrator and a conceptual artist that delves deep into pop culture for inspiration. During his continuing elevation in the art world, Michael has developed a following and has picked up freelance work in the form of commissioned pieces. Also, during this time, he has found a place in the convention circuit and this is where we crossed paths.

 There is a conflict that the fake news networks are too afraid to report on and this battle is something that blurs any political lines. This fight is as old as time and it is the war of MAN vs. ROCK, where some fear to tread two men continue to spread the word and Nowhere California was lucky enough to talk with these men for a second time.

 At the 2017 Long Beach Comic Expo, the Nowhere California Hack Pack crossed paths with Kevin Bieber and Victor De Troy to discuss the world of MAN vs. Rock, since their last meeting. The conversation runs the range of topics from their new monthly column to MAN vs. ROCK hitting the shelves of your favorite comic book store and anything else that might escape the minds of everyone involved in this interview.
