When we first started the podcast, the idea of conducting interviews was far from a reality in our eyes. Now, with our 6^th convention in the books, it definitely is a surreal moment to talk with the creative minds behind the works we love and the feeling is indescribable, when these people remember us.

It was a great honor to meet Felissa in 2014 and the entire Nowhere California team had the same feelings as we crossed passed with Felissa at the Days of the Dead convention in April.

A Look From Nowhere At A Prehistoric Slasher Film..

The Nowhere California team could tell you dozens of stories from our teenage lives, but that is for a different time and when the statute of limitations expires, so we are ready to let you in on the teenage exploits of Kansas Bowling.

At the age of 15, Kansas began to develop the story of “B.C. Butcher” with her friend Kenzie and, by the age of 17, Kansas directed the feature film adaptation of “B.C. Butcher.” The production for this movie quickly picked up steam and brought some cult icons in front of Kansas’ camera, such as Kadeem Hardison (A Different World) and Kato Kaelin (The O.J. Simpson Trail).

As the film wrapped and word of mouth began to grow, the creation of Kansas caught the legendary eye of Lloyd Kaufman and he picked up “B.C. Butcher” for distribution through the Troma Entertainment banner.

At the recent Los Angeles Day of the Dead Convention, that took place in April, the guys from Nowhere had the pleasure to talk with Kansas Bowling and her stepmother, Miranda Robin. The conversation delves into the production of the film and the journey through the world of independent filmmaking.

One Bad Day. One Great Movie..Coming Soon.

One bad day. It just takes one bad day to turn the sanest mortal into the darkest of souls and just one bad day is the lynch pin behind one of most infamous DC graphic novels, “The Killing Joke”. This graphic novel is held in high regards in most comic book circles and will be making its animated film debut in a few short weeks.

“The Killing Joke” will be released digitally on July 23,2016 and Blu-Ray/Dvd on August 2. This film will break new ground for the popular DC animated movie series, as “The Killing Joke” will be rated R. That rating is a relief to many, as any lower rating would be a disservice to the legacy of this story.

As you can tell quickly from the trailer, the legacy of this story is well protect in many ways and two of those reasons come in the form of the voice talents. The men that are synonymous with this classic rivalry, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill will headline this film.

A reminder, if you’re a fan of the original graphic novel or you’re a fan of the DC animated universe, this is an entry that should not be miss digitally on July 23 and on August 2 in the Blu-Ray/Dvd formats. Also, in the Blu-Ray/Dvd format, watch for a special deluxe edition and the limited edition Joker figure that will be included.

NOWHERE Invades The Hollywood Comedy Shorts Film Festival..

This past April and hot off the heels of the Days of the Dead convention, the guys from Nowhere were invited to cover their first film festival and the Nowhere California team charted new ground to cover the 1^st Annual Hollywood Comedy Shorts Festival.

This event took place the 15^th and 16^th of April at the world famous TCL Chinese Theatre, gathering the world of short form comedy under one roof. During the opening night celebration, Nowhere California was represented on the red carpet and we took the opportunity to talk with a few of the festivals participants..

Nowhere California Reports To Detention..

The beginning of this month marked the return of the Days of the Dead convention to the west coast and the guys from Nowhere jumped into the event head first. The three day event was packed to the rafters with excitement and, over the next few days, Nowhere California will launch our traditional tales from the con. The first stop is detention, a bloody session of detention.

In the past, our adventures to these conventions have revealed some of the best in the world of independent cinema and the 2016 Los Angeles Days of the Dead continued this roll, as Phil and I entered the world of “Getting Schooled…”

“Getting Schooled..” is a comedy/horror throwback to the world of the 1980s and slasher movies. As it was described to us, “The Breakfast Club” meets A LOT of blood. I could go into more details, but the trailer will speak volumes…

“Getting Schooled..” was a part of the screening schedule for the convention and the guys from Nowhere jumped at the opportunity to view this film, so please keep watching this site for our full review of “Getting Schooled..”

In the meantime and most importantly, Nowhere California had the great pleasure to talk with members of the “Getting Schooled..” team.

First, we talked with Courtney Blake Sandifer and director, Chuck Norfolk. In the opening conversation, Courtney reveals the development of the film’s look and other aspects of the production process. Then, Chuck discusses his role as co-writer/director and the evolution of “Getting Schooled..” from script to the screen.

Gotham Has A New Commissioner..

J.K. Simmons has hung up his Daily Bugle Press Credentials and picked up the Commissioner’s badge of the Gotham Police Department, as Simmons has signed on to play Commissioner Gorden in the upcoming Justice League films.

As we are a few weeks away from the “Dawn Of Justice”, there is little to no chance of seeing Simmons step into commissioner’s office and Simmons will probably sit out the battle of the world’s finest. This down time will be short lived, as part 1 of the Justice League films will begin production next month and will hit theaters Nov.17,2017.

Now, that we know Simmons’ position in the “Justice League” world, where does this leave Simmons and Gorden in the growing DC universe? Will we see Simmons in the upcoming solo Affleck/Batman movies?

Are We Ready For A Jedi Tomb Raider?

Could a new generation Jedi bring the life back to forgotten video game movie franchise? As quickly as the Millennium Falcon can make the kessel run, the casting rumor of Daisy Ridley stepping into the boots of Lara Croft has spread through all the Hollywood outlets.

This past week, DEADLINE reported that Warner Bro’s and MGM have possible put Daisy into casting consideration for the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. Now, with everything in Hollywood, casting and production rumors can change in the blink of an eye. Now, with Daisy’s commitments to the Star Wars franchise, could her name be taken out of the mix as quickly as it was brought in or could this be a post Star Wars project for Rey?

Yesterday, the world was witness to some unusual paranormal activity that appeared in the form of a free roaming, full-screen movie trailer. That’s right, the long awaited trailer for Paul Feig’s all-female cast of Ghostbusters hit http://www.ghostbusters.com to mixed reactions. We here at Nowhere California absolutely loved our first glimpse into the new world of the Ghostbusters franchise. Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon (By the way, McKinnon as Jillian Holtzmann? My new crush!), and Leslie Jones round out our new Ghostbusters as well as, who we believe will be their super sexy secretary, Chris Hemsworth. The trailer gives us our first glimpse at the new ghosts and a familiar ugly little spud…green…gross…OKAY It’s Slimer. Since the guys at Nowhere gave this to me to write I will hop on a short soapbox for a moment. This may not be our original guys nor a true sequel to the franchise. It is, however, honoring the original with cameos by Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, Annie Potts, the freaking firehouse AND, as I mentioned, Slimer. The hearse they use in this as Ecto-1 is a 1984 Cadillac…you know 1984…like when the first film came out!? So everyone needs to cool their collective jets and just enjoy a new chapter into the Ghostbusters universe! I will be there on July 15th to watch as “A new team will answer the call.”

Nowhere California Is Returning To The Days Of The Dead..

The Days of the Dead conventions were unleashed onto the world in July of 2011 with Indianapolis, IN serving as the first location. Since that debut event, the Days of the Dead crew have left their bloody marks across the country and have the continuing goal of presenting a convention “for fans, by fans.”

The Days of the Dead convention will be returning to the west coast in April, the guest list keeps building and this year’s event will spill some ink into the bloody mix, as this leg of the Days of Dead will present their first ever tattoo expo.

Welcome To Episode VIII..

The end will be the beginning, well at least when it comes to the start of production on Star Wars Episode VIII.

In this teaser released by Lucas Films, production has started on the next installment of the Star Wars franchise and it looks like some questions will be answered very quickly.

As of this posting, very little is known about this installment and the world still waits for the complete title to be released. The information that is known is the cast that will be returning and not returning, if that statement is confusing, then do yourself a favor and get to the movie theater NOW!

Also, there will be some new faces added to this edition of the saga and there are some Hollywood elite that are entering this galaxy. Kelly Marie Tran (About A Boy), Benicio Del Toro (Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas), and Laura Dern (Jurassic Park) will make their marks in the Star War’s Saga, when Episode VIII blasts into theaters December 15,2017
