DIGITAL UNDERGROUND #2: Life Insurance Lottery

What would you put on the line to enlarge your bank account? Would you risk your life for a slice of paradise? These are the questions posed to Bob in the new film “Life Insurance Lottery” and this film is the second entry into the Nowhere California Digital Underground.

“Life Insurance Lottery” is the new movie from Chuck Norfolk, Chuck is the creative mind behind the Nowhere favorite “Getting Schooled..” and he continues to elevate his cinematic eye in this unique thriller. This film takes you on a journey down easy street with Bob and his entry into an ultra secret club that promises a quick pay day, but Bob’s world is turned upside down as the body count begins to rise quicker then his bank account.

This film has assembled an excellent cast from the main characters to the background players, each performer helps you to believe this world and you can only hope for their success or failures, depending on their true motivation in this script. It’s hard to give the proper credit to every actor in this movie, because viewing this film will give the proper meaning behind that statement and I would highly recommend viewing this movie, but there are two performances that deserve acknowledgement on this page.
The first performance comes from Brad Potts. Brad plays Detective Gallagher, who crosses paths with the club and Bob throughout the movie. He is a grizzled investigator, who seems to have been on this case for a long time and is the greatest definition of a functioning alcoholic in film.

The second performance comes from Joe Grisaffi, who plays Bob’s best friend James and enters the secret club in the same hopes of cashing in. In the start of the movie, James isn’t sure what to take of this offer and quickly dives in. Joe’s performance can be described as multiple layers, from comedic to dramatic and deserves to be noticed.

As I said above, every performance from the cast and crew deserves to be acknowledged. There is a lot of passion that can be clearly seen on this production, this film deserves to be seen on multiple screens and Vimeo On Demand is the place to go.

In the debut of Nowhere California’s Digital Underground, we left the review to you the reader and recommended the title, this will not be different. “Life Insurance Lottery” is a great piece of independent cinema and we encourage everyone to give this movie a chance, so head to Vimeo On Demand or the link at the end of this piece and check out this movie. Also, when you’re finished, leave your thoughts for the filmmakers and let us know your thoughts about “Life Insurance Lottery”

One More Shift For The Clerks..

Jay and Silent Bob are about to get rebooted, but Dante and Randal will soon be clocking in one last time. As “Jay And Silent Bob ReBoot” gets closer to its cinematic release, the man behind the dynamic duo unleashed some news about the on screen team that started it all…

3 CLERKS! Thanks to the good folks at @zscentertainment and @leeloomultiprops, I got to see Randal! #JeffAnderson, @jaymewes, and I spent Saturday signing stuff and catching up, seeing so much movie merch that’s been made over the last 25 years (hit the Leloo site for sweet signed skateboards)! But even better than that? We talked about making a movie together. It’ll be a movie that concludes a saga. It’ll be a movie about how you’re never too old to completely change your life. It’ll be a movie about how a decades-spanning friendship finally confronts the future. It’ll be a movie that brings us back to the beginning – a return to the cradle of civilization in the great state of #newjersey. It’ll be a movie that stars Jeff and @briancohalloran, with me and Jay in supporting roles. And it’ll be a movie called CLERKS III! To be great is to go on. To go on is to go far. To go far is to return. And we’re all gonna return to the scene of the crime! This won’t be the old script we almost made a few years back: this is a completely new screenplay that I just started writing last night! And so far, it’s like a dream come true! After mending fences with @benaffleck earlier this year, I was hoping for a chance to do the same with Jeff – so huge thanks to Leeloo Multiprops for getting us all in the same room. But the biggest thanks ever go to Jeff, for being receptive to the idea at all. This means I’m gonna get to play with my two favorite inaction figures again: Dante & Randal! Two weeks from the debut of @jayandsilentbob Reboot (on @fathomevents screens 10/15 & 10/17, link in my bio), I’m ecstatic to announce our imminent return to Quick Stop! So I assure you: we’re open! #KevinSmith #clerks3 #jaymewes #jayandsilentbob #danteandrandal #quickstop #leeloomultiprops #indiefilm #clerks

Clerks III is showing life and, more importantly, another friendship from the View Askewniverse has returned. The details of the initial rift between Kevin and Jeff has never really seen the light of day, but that is something between two friends and it’s great to see them reconnect, let alone seeing them return to that garden state of mind.

As of this post, the script is still in the early stages and no production date is in view, but the usual suspects seem to be ready to return to the Quick Stop.

Joe Has Some Late Fees And Needs Your Help

Joe is a nice guy and tries to do nothing wrong, but a recent discovery will send him on a most excellent adventure. Joe will journey to return a VHS copy of “Above The Law” and late fees be darned, he will accomplish his goal.

You have entered the world of “Joe Returns A Video”, a short film written and starring Joe Grisaffi. You might remember Joe was the director of the movie “Conjoined”, a movie I described in the past as “A cross between an episode of Tales From The Crypt and Three’s Company with a few low doses of acid.” That review is in the most positive light a review can be with the use of acid as an example and “Joe Returns A Video” continues that stream of thought.

I was lucky enough to view a rough cut of this short and would love to give a proper review, but that would spoil the fun of this absurdly hilarious film. Honestly, “Joe Returns A Video” is like an ADULT SWIM cartoon come to life and you still have the opportunity to help finish this film.

The team behind this film is in the final days of an IndieGoGo campaign for the post production process. They have locked in some great perks for your donations and you can have your name attached to a great piece of independent comedy.

The Finish Line Is In View…

The production for a movie can be looked at in three parts. There is pre-production and the actual film production, then the filmmaker has one final lap with post production and this is there chance to finish their dream that started on a blank page.

A few months ago, April to be exact, we shared the IndieGoGo project for the film “Life Insurance Lottery”. This project was to help through the filming process and now is the time for post-production and this is your chance to have your hands or some blood (depending on the perks you pick) in some great independent cinema.

As a contributor to this project, every dollar you pledge will help put the finishing touches on this production. The cast and crew of “Life Insurance Lottery” have a great film that deserves a final product that can stand toe to toe with bigger budget Hollywood grind.

Check out this project’s IndieGoGo page and learn about the making of this movie, then spread the word and throw your money into this film’s final cut.

A Look From Nowhere At Life Insurance Lottery..

(Joshua Gilmore-Staff Writer)

The creative minds behind “Haunted Trailer” and “Getting Schooled”, a personal favorite of Nowhere California, are getting ready to roll film on their next production and they want you to roll the dice with them in the form of an indiegogo project.

“Life Insurance Lottery” follows a down and out loser, as he wishes for the simple life and joins a club that could be the answer to all of his dreams; but when his friends start to die, he must choose between a growing bank account and stopping a rising body count.

The writer behind this film is Chuck Norfolk and he originally submitted this script for the third season of the “Project Greenlight” television series, the script was ranked in the top 20% of the competition and, after 16 years on a hard drive, the time has come for “Life Insurance Lottery” to become a big screen reality.

The first part of that reality is an indiegogo project to achieve a budget this film deserves, you can check out this project by CLICKING HERE On this page, you can check out plans for the production and budget. You can meet the people that will create this film from behind and in front of the camera. Also, a key budget point has been revealed that a secret backer will match funds up to $15,000 and that should be a prime example that even a dollar will go a long way.

Now, with any crowd funding projects, the perks can be as important as the campaign and the rewards for the “Life Insurance Lottery” project will allow you to leave your own mark on this movie. The details of these perks are worth the viewing and are well worth your money.

This project is currently live and we will keep you posted on the progress of this production. In Nowhere California’s lifetime, we take great pride in the independent creativity that we have shared with our listeners and this production will continue this path.

The 2016 Days of the Dead Convention brought upon a lot of great moments for the Nowhere California team and one of those moments was meeting the creative minds behind the movie “Getting Schooled”..

After these conversations, the guys from Nowhere were lucky enough to attend the world premiere of this movie and quickly fell in love with this horror comedy that give a fitting nod to the classic teen comedies of the 1980s

As the convention became a memory and “Getting Schooled” started to be seen by more people, the movie’s exposure and word of mouth started to grow. Now, I am happy to spread the word and give some congratulations, as “Getting Schooled” is now available on multiple video on demand platforms. This milestone for this movie comes with thanks to the distribution of Midnight Releasing.

Once again, I cannot recommend this movie enough and I can give multiple reasons behind the recommendation. “Getting Schooled” has it’s nostalgia factor, but this movie takes that trait and gives it an original spin that gets easily lost in most mainstream movies.

A Look From Nowhere At Special Unit..

The worst cop in Los Angeles has hit rock bottom and his commanding officer has a new assignment for him. In a swing from the fairness in disability act, Officer Garrett Fowler has to train the department’s four new handicapped detectives and keep his sanity intact.

Now, with that being established, here is the trailer for the movie “Special Unit.”

“Special Unit” was written and directed by stand-up comedy artist Christopher Titus. Titus has been a stand-up comic for many years, jumping into the mainstream with his stand-up specials and underrated FOX sitcom. This film has been a pet project for a few years and the pieces fell together into possibly a darkly hysterical piece of independent film. The tone for the movie is quickly set in this trailer and the cast of “Special Unit” is a gathering of some of the most talented minds in comedy.

During the 2016 Studio City Film Festival, “Special Unit” was an official selection of the festival and will continue to travel to other events. This is one of those dark comedies that will gain the right audience and will gain a positive word of mouth wave.

Nowhere California has history of love for the world of independent films and creativity, so we will work towards viewing this movie and give you our review.

JOIN THE FIGHT! Help the HACK PACK!

(Nicholas Dye/ Staff Writer)

The guys here at Nowhere California have launched a new campaign that, at the very least, will get us some awesome shirts made, and at best, we might just earn some money that we can put towards our convention expenses and equipment costs.

We have designed an exclusive “HACK PACK” t-shirt and the short goal is to sell 14 shirts which will get them to print. If we can reach a goal of 50 shirts, then we will actually make some money to put towards expanding our horizons at Nowhere California.

The campaign can be found at http://www.booster.com/nowhereca and the shirt runs a total of $19.99 with shipping included. They are 100% cotton high quality t-shirts that you can show off at conventions or comic shops. BUT WAIT!! THERE’S MORE!! The first 14 people who purchase shirts will receive ALL of our interviews and content from the upcoming Stan Lee’s Comikaze before the general public does.

We here at Nowhere California don’t usually like to pander but…OKAY OKAY we have never been above pandering to get listeners and now we hope that same shameless groveling will get you to join the HACK PACK and sport our mildly suggestive t-shirt!! Excelsior!!!!
