Hulk Hogan Fired from WWE over racist comments.

(Nicholas Dye, Staff Writer)

*Disclaimer* While we at Nowhere California do NOT condone the use of ANY racist or hate based language, the use of some language will be uncensored for the purpose of quoting accurately.

Earlier today, rumors started circulating through various news groups alleging that WWE Legend and Hall of Fame inductee, Hulk Hogan, had used the word “nigger” repeatedly in a recorded rant. The rant originates from a sex tape recording of Hogan with Heather Clem, the wife of Hogan’s former friend and radio show host, Bubba “The Love Sponge”. Although the transcripts from the recording were supposed to be sealed, RadarOnline.com said that “5 independent groups” all had the information from said transcripts. The rant was directed at Hogan’s daughter, Brooke regarding concerning her alleged sexual relations with a black man.

”She is making some real bad decisions now. My daughter Brooke jumped sides on me. I spent $2-3 million on her music career, I’ve done everything like a jackass for her. The one option Brooke had, Brooke’s career besides me, is [to] sell beach records.” (The following is in regards to Brooke’s career possibly being funded by a “black billionaire guy”) “I don’t know if Brooke was fucking the black guy’s son. I mean, I don’t have double standards. I mean, I am a racist, to a point, fucking niggers. But then when it comes to nice people and shit, and whatever.” “I mean, I’d rather if she was going to fuck some nigger, I’d rather have her marry an 8-foot-tall nigger worth a hundred million dollars! Like a basketball player! I guess we’re all a little racist. Fucking nigger.”

Following this news, WWE quickly pulled Hogan from all programming and issued this statement: WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan). WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide.

MANY WWE superstars, past and present, were quick to come to Hogan’s defense and a few we very vocal in expressing their sadness and disappointment in the situation. Hogan himself issued a public apology through TMZ, and stated:

“Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it.”

“I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs. It is not who I am. I continue to work every day to improve as a person, and this matter is an important learning experience for me in that regard.”

In the immediate fallout, WWE is pulling all Hulk Hogan merchandise and distancing themselves from anything associated with Hogan which includes pulling him from the “WWE 2K16” video game. Quickly following suit, TNA also pulled Hogan from their “alumni” page and is also pulling any Hogan merchandise.

The question now is how can Hogan repair his image? He does have a tremendous fan and colleague support system and the comments that have been brought to light were from 8 years ago. The time factor may lend some credibility to Hogan’s appeal as well. The other factor involved here is that both Booker T and Vince McMahon have used the term “nigga” on television. While Booker T’s is clearly an accidental slip, McMahon’s seems to be part of the script. Granted, Hogan’s use from the transcripts is exponentially worse, it does seem to diminish WWE’s decision if even slightly. (*Please note, I am in no way saying that ANY of the parties involved were okay in using this hateful word. I am simply drawing the comparison of the use of the word in a scripted segment as opposed to the use in a private setting.) You be the judge, here are both videos containing use of the word “nigga.” Nowherecalifornia.com will keep you posted as this story further unfolds.

Jurassic World sequel to tear the hell out of the box office in 2018!

(Nicholas Dye, Staff Writer)

It comes with no surprise that Universal Pictures has immediately announced a sequel to easily the biggest box office surprise in history. Clearly, 22 years later, people will still throw money at theaters to see dinosaurs on the big screen and in Hi-Def 3D. With Jurassic World currently at the number 3 spot for highest-grossing picture of all time, a sequel was a no-brainer. A huge credit to the success of the film was the inclusion of the red hot Chris Pratt and the red hot red head, Bryce Dallas Howard. The head honchos over at Universal recognized this and quickly secured both for the sequel with a release date of June 22, 2018. No director has been announced yet but Colin Treverrow and Derek Connolly will return to co-write the screenplay.

Ash Vs. The Evil Dead Are Ready For Round 1..

(Joshua Gilmore Staff Writer)

Ash has returned and it’s time for the boomstick to do some talking, so all of the deadites should be on notice. This Halloween will mark the debut of the Starz original series “Ash vs. The Evil Dead” and the blood is ready to pour.
This half hour series see everyone’s favorite badass, Ashley “Ash” J. Williams, 30 years removed from the original events of the classic “Evil Dead” and moving on with his life, sort of.
Ash works at Value Stop and lives a “quiet” life in a trailer park, until the evil returns and Ash is ready to tango.
At the 2015 San Diego Comic Con, Ash vs. The Evil Dead held a panel and unleashed this amazing trailer onto the masses.

Along with Bruce Campbell, Sam and Ivan Rami are returning the Evil Dead fold, as both Ramis are stepping into the roles of executive producers. Also, Sam Rami will direct and co-write the debut episode of the series.
There are some new faces joining the mix as Ray Santiago, who plays Pablo Simon Bolivar and Dana Delorenzo, who plays Kelly Maxwell will join Ash on this new chapter. Also, Lucy Lawless enters the story as the mysterious Ruby.
As Hollywood seems to be lost when it comes to original ideas, it’s awesome to a classic getting the proper treatment. We can only hope that Starz treats this production correctly and we see a long life for Ash and the evil dead.

A group of friends set out for the greatest high of their lives, but stumble across something out of this world in the upcoming movie “Star Leaf” It’s easy to categorize this movie as a simple search to get high, but that would be a great disservice to this multi-layered movie. The Half Shelled Heroes Enter Gotham…

(Joshua Gilmore Staff Writer)

We still have a long wait until the dark knight rises on the big screen and faces off with the last son of krypton, but this November the Caped Crusader will cross paths with the heroes in a half shell. As announced during the recent San Diego Comic Con, IDW publishing and DC Comics will publish a crossover of Technodrome proportions.
In a six part miniseries, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the arch rival Shredder will enter Gotham City, after being forced out of their own dimension by the evil Krang. As they battle to return home, the turtles and shredder will cross paths with Batman.
When this news broke, the hardcore and fair weathered comic fan understood the magnitude of this event. Each franchise has historic legacy behind their characters and they are not strangers to reinvention or crossovers.
“Batman is the world’s most popular Super Hero. He continues to be reimagined and this new crossover showcases his ongoing appeal as a global pop icon for the ages,” said DC Comics Editor-in-Chief, Bob Harras.

As Batman is not a stranger to reinvention, the dark knight knows his way around a cross over or two. The world of Batman comics have had a revolving door similar to the guest stars list from the 1966 Batman television series. The storied history of Batman crossovers range from his shocking interaction with the MARVEL universe to the world of Tarazan and many other characters in between.

In their over 30 year history, the turtles have had their fair share of epic events and universe crossing. In one of their most recent crossovers, the turtles entered the universe of the Ghostbusters (another highly popular IDW title) and their universe jumping can be traced back to their first interactions with Usagi Yojimbo in the pages of 1987’s “Turtle Soup”
As the comic book world waits for these issues to hit the market, we know the story will be written by James Tynion IV and artist Freddie E. Williams II will handle the art for this series. Also, the co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Kevin Eastman and a yet-to-be name artist will create the variant covers for the crossover event.

Suicide Squad is no Joke!! But Seriously…

(Nicholas Dye, Staff Writer)

Revealed at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, here is the Suicide Squad trailer we promised! I am a huge fan of the current comic book run and it looks like David Ayer and John Ostrander went to great lengths to make sure this movie captured the grit and spirit of said comics. The premise of Suicide Squad is a black ops agency, led by Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), puts together an elite team using the world’s worst criminals. They are tasked with completing missions deemed…you guessed it, suicidal. The big question…how to keep all those baddies in line? Although we have seen the reveal pictures online, the trailer gives us our first introduction to Jared Leto’s take on the Joker. With some awfully large clown shoes left to be filled by the late Heath Ledger and the outstanding Jack Nicholson, this is no small feat. From his laugh alone, I think Leto will do the legacy proud! Suicide Squad gives Bat-fans their first on screen interpretation of Harley Quinn played by the insanely hot Margot Robbie as well as Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje). The rest of the squad is rounded out by Deadshot (Will Smith), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), and Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman). Much like Guardians of the Galaxy was a runaway sleeper hit for Marvel, I believe Suicide Squad will do the same for DC. Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5, 2016 and is not yet rated.

This is probably a moot point, but here is a friendly reminder, BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will be unleashed March 25,2016
