Star Trek Beyond

(Nicholas Dye/Staff Writer)

In the barrage of new trailers that have  emerged in the last few days, Paramount Pictures decided to take it a step…Beyond. Justin Lin, of The Fast and the Furious series, steps in to fill the director spot left by the departure of J.J. Abrams. Simon Pegg and Doug Jung have written this third installment of the Star Trek series that finally sees the crew of the USS Enterprise embark on their 5 year deep space exploration. Pegg and Jung, decided to venture away from known canon and will introduce us to a new alien baddie in Idris Elba (Thor/Luther) and a new ally in Sofia Boutella (Kingsman). Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho, and Anton Yelchin all return to command the legendary starship in it’s new adventures and the only question left is whether this ship with have smooth skies without Abrams at the helm. After watching this trailer, I have very high hopes. Star Trek: Beyond hits theaters in REAL D 3D and IMAX 3D on July 22, 2016

It’s time to return to the mix of Nowhere California’s coverage of the 2015 Stan Lee’s Comikaze and jump back into the conversations that developed from this amazing event, but I should rephrase amazing event and change that into Shpadoinkle event, as the guys from Nowhere talk with Dian Bachar.

We fight again for our Independence!

(Nicholas Dye/Staff Writer)

This summer will mark 20 years since humankind prevailed over the alien threat and the 4th of July became Global Independence Day. In 2016, that independence will once again be threatened by forces from outside our world and once again Dr. David Levinson (Jeff Goldblum) is racing the clock to protect us. Independence Day: Resurgence is the long awaited follow-up to Roland Emmerich’s mega-summer blockbuster. Bill Pullman and Vivica A. Fox both reprise their roles as President Whitmore and Jasmine respectively yet without Will Smith’s Captain Steven Hiller. Liam Hemsworth joins the fight this time around as planet earth faces down an even bigger alien threat. 20th Century Fox has created a highly immersive website that chronicles the events following the events of 1996. Check it out here at http://www.warof1996.com Will our reverse-engineered alien weaponry be enough to save us again or will planet earth finally fall? Find out June 24, 2016

A Look At X-MEN:APOCALYPSE

(Joshua Gilmore-Staff Writer)

Apocalypse, in the normal world, can bring fear and pain to humanity. Apocalypse, in the world of mutants, can bring fear and pain to humanity, but Apocalypse can bring a power that the most powerful mutants cannot control.

Since his debut, in May of 1986, Apocalypse has been considered the Alpha and Omega of the mutant world of the X-Men. Now, with the release of the trailer for X-Men:Apocalypse, we will finally see this entity on the big screen…

It’s hard to gather the right comments to express the excitement for this movie and the year that 2016 will be for movies. Apocalypse continues to show that a MARVEL movie can survive outside of the MARVEL Cinematic Wonderland (AKA Disney) and a stacked list of characters will be treating fairly.

As this is the first trailer for this production, we can only imagine and know that there will be A LOT more to look forward in the weeks leading to the release.

Ninja Turtles 2: Out of the Shadows

(Nicholas Dye/Staff Writer)

Michael Bay’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, love ’em or hate ’em, are set to make their return this coming summer and it looks our “heroes in a half shell” will have a a few new baddies to contend with as well as a very familiar pointed return…see what I did there? Megan Fox is back as April O’Neil as is Will Arnett as her panicky cameraman, Vernon Fenwick. The newcomers to this film will make any Turtles fan thrilled. Joining Shredder are long-time baddies Bebop and Rocksteady played, respectively, by Gary Anthony Williams and WWE Champion Sheamus (billed by his real name Stephen Farrelly). The man who makes it possible to get our favorite baddie warthog and rhino is Baxter Stockman, played by Tyler Perry. Fear not though, the Turtles get some new back up with the introduction of Casey Jones, played by Arrow’s Stephen Amell as well as the appearance of the “Party Wagon”, in this film a gigantic trash truck that spits manhole covers like a machine gun. It would appear, right at the beginning of the trailer, that we may also get some extra-dimentional involvement which can only mean one thing: Krang. We will see what unfolds on June 3, 2016 but for now, enjoy this first peek at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Out of the Shadows.

Nowhere California Talks With LIVE-EVIL Mastermind..

liveevil

(Joshua Gilmore-Staff Writer)

Back in October, we posted about the horror film LIVE-EVIL and here is the trailer again, if you need a quick refresher…

I was lucky enough to attend this movie’s screening at the 2015 Stan Lee Comikaze and enjoyed every moment of LIVE-EVIL. The movie is a great blend of horror and humor, with a cast and crew that clearly have a passion for the production. LIVE-EVIL is that type of movie you want to watch multiple times and with multiple people, so you can catch every moment.

Now, with that being said, I was lucky enough to have a phone conversation with the writer/director Ari Kirschenbaum and we jumped head first into this movie’s world.

(Joshua Gilmore-Staff Writer)

The world of entertainment has lost another creative voice, as Robert Loggia has passed away at the age of 85. Loggia had made a career out of playing tough guys and taking on roles that allowed him to have a laugh or two. In his over 6 decade career, Robert had appeared in 229 roles and acted aside some of the biggest names in Hollywood, even a few before they were the headliners they are today.

As with every entertainer, their legacy will be remember with the credits of their career and Loggia’s legacy will never be forgotten in cannon of amazing work. Also, Loggia’s influence on the lives he impacted will allow people to continue to know this great human and creative soul.

The best way to sum up this loss is the words of Loggia’s wife, Aubrey. She released this statement after the news broke, “His poor body gave up, He loved being an actor and he loved his life.”

screen-shot-2015-11-10-at-1-24-15-pm

(Joshua Gilmore-Staff Writer)

In November, the creative minds of Mystery Science Theater 3000 launched a kickstarter in the hopes to relaunch this classic series and the loyal cult of the series have answered their call. In a short period of time the original goal was met and new information for the relaunched series was announced.

cvj-a1zxiaan9cp

As the new goal points were reached, Joel Hodgson would reveal the exciting possibilities that would be coming to the relaunch of the series and these were stated as possibilities, since Joel would say nothing could be set in stone until the kickstarter was finished. These announcements have been exciting to say the least and have revealed the new members of the cast; such as Jonah Ray as the guy launched into space and Felicia Day as Kinga Forrester, who is the daughter of MST3k original mad scientist Dr. Clayton Forrester. Also, in another piece of classic offspring news, Patton Oswalt has been announced to step in the role of TV’s Frank’s son and will be stepping in the role of TV’s Son of TV’s Frank.

Now, with all of that excitement out of the way, it is time for the important information and this kickstarter is in the final stretch. The goal is to reach the proper amount to produce 12 episodes and there is under 6 days left to meet that goal, so PLEASE go to their kickstarter page by CLICKING HERE and help reboot something that deserves to be rebooted.

Rocker Scott Weiland dies at 48.

(Nicholas Dye/Staff Writer)

Legendary rock star Scott Weiland passed away late Thursday night in his sleep in Bloomington, Minnesota. An official Instagram account confirmed Weiland’s death by saying; “Scott Weiland, best known as the lead singer for Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, passed away in his sleep while on a tour stop in Bloomington, Minnesota, with his band The Wildabouts. At this time, we ask the privacy of Scott’s family be respected.”

Weiland stormed onto the grunge-metal scene in 1992 with Stone Temple Pilots and their first albums, Core and Purple following in 1994. In 2001-02, Weiland became part of the supergroup Velvet Revolver along with Guns n Roses alumni Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum. They went on to win Best Rock Performance at the 2005 Grammy Awards. With Weiland’s very public battles with addiction, many will speculate as to the cause of his death. For myself, I think I will put on my favorite Stone Temple Pilots song, have a beer, and remember the music of Scott Weiland and how it was a huge part of the soundtrack of my youth. Rest well Scott and thanks.
