The Days of the Dead coverage take an animated turn and the guys from Nowhere talk with Angus Oblong.
There might be a rare few that might be clueless on who this man is or it might be the other way around, so here is a quick refresher to jog your memory.
Angus Oblong is a writer and illustrator that entered the published landscape with the book “Creepy Susie and 13 Other Tragic Tales For Troubled Children” This well-written and illustrated book gave the world a look at Angus’ talents. Also, “Creepy Susie..” lead to the animated series known as “The Oblongs”
This animated series transferred characters from the original book to the small screen and brought the world of Angus Oblong to a larger audience, two members of this audience were the guys from Nowhere.
At the 2016 Days of the Dead convention, Phil and Josh took the opportunity to talk with the mind behind these creations..
The beginning of this month marked the return of the Days of the Dead convention to the west coast and the guys from Nowhere jumped into the event head first. The three day event was packed to the rafters with excitement and, over the next few days, Nowhere California will launch our traditional tales from the con. The first stop is detention, a bloody session of detention.
In the past, our adventures to these conventions have revealed some of the best in the world of independent cinema and the 2016 Los Angeles Days of the Dead continued this roll, as Phil and I entered the world of “Getting Schooled…”
“Getting Schooled..” is a comedy/horror throwback to the world of the 1980s and slasher movies. As it was described to us, “The Breakfast Club” meets A LOT of blood. I could go into more details, but the trailer will speak volumes…
“Getting Schooled..” was a part of the screening schedule for the convention and the guys from Nowhere jumped at the opportunity to view this film, so please keep watching this site for our full review of “Getting Schooled..”
In the meantime and most importantly, Nowhere California had the great pleasure to talk with members of the “Getting Schooled..” team.
First, we talked with Courtney Blake Sandifer and director, Chuck Norfolk. In the opening conversation, Courtney reveals the development of the film’s look and other aspects of the production process. Then, Chuck discusses his role as co-writer/director and the evolution of “Getting Schooled..” from script to the screen.
In this second installment, we talk with Morgan Tyler and Mayra Leal. The guys first talk with Morgan Tyler (who plays the high school princess Hillary) after that conversation, Phil and I talk with Mayra Leal (who plays the outcast Julie).
These conversations delve into Morgan and Mayra’s personal developments of their characters and their views of the production process.
This was a great moment for the entire Nowhere California team and we would like to thank everybody from “Getting Schooled..” for letting us into your creative world.
The time has arrived to close Nowhere California’s coverage of the 2016 Long Beach Comic Expo. The journey was amazing and we appreciate the opportunity that was given to us by the event’s organizers.

In the past, Phil and Josh have been lucky enough to talk with some truly creative minds. In this new edition of “Nowhere California Presents..” the guys talk with Jason Beckwith.
Beckwith is one of the minds behind several amazing titles and, in this conversation, opens up about the journey to bringing these titles to life.
The Days of the Dead conventions were unleashed onto the world in July of 2011 with Indianapolis, IN serving as the first location. Since that debut event, the Days of the Dead crew have left their bloody marks across the country and have the continuing goal of presenting a convention “for fans, by fans.”
The Days of the Dead convention will be returning to the west coast in April, the guest list keeps building and this year’s event will spill some ink into the bloody mix, as this leg of the Days of Dead will present their first ever tattoo expo.
Days of the Dead was the first convention to give Nowhere California the opportunity to cover an event of this level, something that help build Nowhere California into the entity that it is now. Nowhere California are happy to announce that they will be returning to this year’s convention and covering Days of the Dead with the quality you have grown to expect out of Nowhere California.

The hangover from the Long Beach Comic Expo is starting to fade, but it’s time for our coverage to get into high gear.
In our first installment of our coverage, we had the pleasure of talking to Tony Todd. This man has been connected to some of the modern classics of horror and independent film. Also, Todd has made an impact on the small screen and can be seen of CW’s FLASH as Zoom.
It was an honor to have a conversation with this man and we would like to thank Tony for taking the time to talk with some guys from Nowhere.
During our conversation, Tony mentioned his current work in the movie “Frankenstein” and you can watch the trailer below. It looks to be a modern take on a horror classic and, from the looks of the trailer, this version will honor the legacy of the original.
In the past, Nowhere California has had the opportunity to talk with some insanely talented people and this streak has continued with this our conversation with Chantel Riley.
Chantel can be seen currently on Broadway as Nala in “The Lion King”, a role she had the opportunity to play in a production based in Germany.
Also, the world can now see Chantel’s performance as Quincella in the movie “RACE”. “RACE” delves into Jesse Owens’ journey to the 1936 Olympic Games, these games took place in Berlin and we relive Owens history making face off against the handpicked athletes of Adolf Hitler. In the events leading to the Olympics, we learn about Jesse’s life and loves, this is where Quincella enters the picture. Quincella was a well-off admirer of Owens and pursued the athlete like an Olympic medal.
