At San Diego Comic Con 2013, a select few fans were treated to a very immersive event hosted by Legendary pictures to promote their new Godzilla. Many were skeptical because the last time us gaijin took a crack at the King of the Monsters it became a running joke. We enter a Tokyo inspired street filled with classic ‘Zilla memorabilia when klaxons start blaring and we are ushered to safety by a group of officials. We are led through an office building to be evacuated by helicopter. Too late, we have to exit out into an architectural office and sit very still. Outside, the rain is pouring down and inside the power has gone out. Lightning strikes and amidst the thunder comes a different rumble as this new Godzilla lumbers into view and walks past the office window. He’s beautiful and there is a collective clapping as he disappears. Suddenly, his newly tapered snout rises to glare at us directly in the office and his roar shakes the office. The woman next to me covers he ears and I shit…just a little. Jump ahead to the following year and I sit in the theater watching Godzilla blow radioactive fire down the gullet of the second MUTO and it’s head pops off. More applause…a little more poop. WOW. Legendary stepped up and killed it. It was an outing to see how we would react because shortly after it was announced that the next film would feature several more mythic monsters. Jump ahead to 2017. Kong: Skull Island is released and we knew. Come on! We knew why Kong was suddenly 200-300 feet tall. So he could square the hell up with Godzilla at some point. More poop…and then the post credit scene…
Extinction event level poop!!!!! (I loved those jeans too…I digress) Jump ahead one last time…
In the legendary Hall H at San Diego Comic Con 2018, Legendary pictures came with the cast and a legendary trailer (I’m a big Kung Fu Panda fan…sue me) for 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Let’s get us pesky humans outta the way shall we? Replacing Aaron Taylor Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, and Bryan Cranston will be the stunningly talented Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Vera Farmiga (Bates Motel), and Charles Dance (Game of Thrones). Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins reprise their roles but who cares because…well at least 4 iconic monsters are going to be taking the lead!!! So much poop!!
Mothra, Rodan, King Ghidora, and the real king, Godzilla take center stage in a battle that could potentially destroy the world. As far as I’m concerned…what a way to go!! Check out all the monster-y goodness in the first trailer below and be prepared…for poop.
The Justice League have assembled.. sorry they have united in the newest trailer for the upcoming blockbuster for the DC cinematic universe. Since last year’s San Diego Comic Con, we have been treated to full blown trailers and other clips, but this is our chance to see this team in full tilt boogie level action.
This preview does the job of every good trailer and makes you want more, but with the speed bumps that the DC Universe has seen, the doubts are in the water and I will not add to it. This trailer is an excellent piece that gives you the right taste of everyone and reveals more of the Justice League team that you might have been wondering about. I know that I am not alone with the thought of Aquaman stealing this movie and owning every scene he is in.
As the DC promotion train picks up stream, the hopes for Justice League can only grow and November can’t get here quick enough. There is the possible question out there of DC ability to finally reach MARVEL’s cinematic levels in the theaters, but those question should finally be ignored and DC can focus on their own film legacy.
Just in case you need the reminder, JUSTICE LEAGUE will be in theaters November 17th
The Comic Con party rages in San Diego and DC has brought a legendary Amazonian princess to the event, as new trailer and poster for the upcoming movie “Wonder Woman” was released onto the world.
After our first exposure to Diana Prince in “Dawn Of Justice”, most comic book fans were starting to feel that the stars might have finally aligned and this trailer proves it. The Wonder Woman film has been in development and pre-production hell for years, but the problem could have been a simple missing piece to the puzzle and that piece seems to be Gal Gadot.
Gadot entered the DC universe as somewhat of an unknown and quickly made an impact, as shown through her stellar reviews in the lukewarm “Batman v Superman” critical reactions. This trailer has shown that “Wonder Woman” belongs in the major leagues of super hero blockbusters.
JK Rowling bring us back to the magical world that the world has grown to love with the first side entry into the world of Harry Potter. Set in, what appears to be the 1920’s, the movie follows the adventures of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as he pursue magical creatures that have been set loose in New York. Fantastic Beasts brings an all star cast that features Ezra Miller, John Voight, Colin Farrell, and legendary make-up actor Ron Perlman. As in previous Potter films, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will hit theaters in November 2016. For now, take a peek at the teaser trailer.
Jimmy Kimmel last night gave us the latest trailer for Zach Snyder’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer. It’s pretty sizable at just shy of 3 minutes long and before I launch into my dissection of the trailer, I will give you all a chance to bow out and just show you the trailer…
Wow!! Intense huh kids? Now excusing the fact that Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor is clown shoes and that, what I believe is, Doomsday looks like a cave troll from Lord of the Rings, there are quite a few things I love in this trailer. Let’s get right to the big one! Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman emerging from behind her shield looked completely bad-ass and 100% hot! Those who said she didn’t fit the part, based on what we’ve seen in this trailer, will be eating those words early next year. So we now know that the Doomsday/Bizarro hybrid thing is a result of Luthor playing Victor von Frankenstein with General Zod’s body. What we don’t know is whether or not it was Lex’s intention to create such a destructive monster or if he was trying to harness Kryptonian power for himself. The other thing we learn is that Batman will clearly be using Superman’s morals against him. Superman clearly says “Stay Down! If I wanted it, you would be dead already!” This is followed by Batman whopping the shit out of my guy for the next few scenes. All in all, I think those who says it reveals too much are sorely mistaken and I believe we might have a decent film here. I guess this will be settled in May of 2016.
