COMIC CON 2016- A NEW LOOK AT WONDER WOMAN..

The Comic Con party rages in San Diego and DC has brought a legendary Amazonian princess to the event, as new trailer and poster for the upcoming movie “Wonder Woman” was released onto the world.

After our first exposure to Diana Prince in “Dawn Of Justice”, most comic book fans were starting to feel that the stars might have finally aligned and this trailer proves it. The Wonder Woman film has been in development and pre-production hell for years, but the problem could have been a simple missing piece to the puzzle and that piece seems to be Gal Gadot.

Gadot entered the DC universe as somewhat of an unknown and quickly made an impact, as shown through her stellar reviews in the lukewarm “Batman v Superman” critical reactions. This trailer has shown that “Wonder Woman” belongs in the major leagues of super hero blockbusters.

NowhereCalifornia.com Reaches Its First Year..

(Joshua Gilmore- Staff Writer)

It started one year ago today, this site was launched and took the concept of Nowhere California to a whole new level.

Nowhere California started in 2011 and it was just another conversation between two friends, but these conversation started taking place in front of a microphone and unleashed on the internet. It was as simple as that, but as Nowhere California evolved, the team grew and new accomplishments were reach.

The episodes started to grow and the team ventured out of the Nowhere city limits, as they dove into the world of conventions and conducting interviews. It was with each accomplishment, the Nowhere California family stuck to their ideals of what they wanted to produce and not to become just another podcast.

It was that mindset that grew into this website and, as we mark our first year on the net, we want to simply say THANK YOU.

Thank you for following the journey of Nowhere California.

Thank you for listening to the original podcast and all of the other podcast that have sprung from this little idea.

Thank you for checking out this site

And thank you for continuing this adventure with us.

This might sound like a broken record, but the team of Nowhere California loves the world of independent creativity. It’s a world that birthed Nowhere California and we love to shine a spotlight into the area of art.

It began with “Queen Gorya”, then we took a trip to hell with “Oh, Hell”, and the guys recently received an education with “Getting Schooled..” At the recent Los Angeles Days of the Dead convention, Nowhere California returned to the printed page and talked with the mind behind Wannabe Press, Russell Nohelty.

In this conversation, Russell opens up about what got him to start Wannabe Press and mission for the creative works that might get lost in the mainstream publication world.

The time has arrived to close Nowhere California’s coverage of the 2016 Long Beach Comic Expo. The journey was amazing and we appreciate the opportunity that was given to us by the event’s organizers.

In this final installment, the guys from Nowhere run into a great friend of the podcast and creator of the comic book “Oh, Hell..” George Wassil.

Nowhere California’s coverage of the 2015 Stan Lee’s Comikaze Convention is almost over and it’s time to revisit a friend from our conventions past.

Back in 2013, the guys from Nowhere made their way to Long Beach to cover the 5th Annual Long Beach Comic and Horror Convention. At this event, the guys talked to a lot of talented people and decided to record several interviews with some individuals from the independent comic book world..

As we talked to these great artists and creators, one conversation stood out and that was with the creator of “Oh, Hell..” George Wassil. The story of the creation and ideas behind his comic stood out to the guys from Nowhere, so a creative friendship was born.

Since that first meeting, both projects evolved and the opportunity to cross paths presented itself at the Comikaze event, so..

Ash Vs. The Evil Dead Are Ready For Round 1..

(Joshua Gilmore Staff Writer)

Ash has returned and it’s time for the boomstick to do some talking, so all of the deadites should be on notice. This Halloween will mark the debut of the Starz original series “Ash vs. The Evil Dead” and the blood is ready to pour.
This half hour series see everyone’s favorite badass, Ashley “Ash” J. Williams, 30 years removed from the original events of the classic “Evil Dead” and moving on with his life, sort of.
Ash works at Value Stop and lives a “quiet” life in a trailer park, until the evil returns and Ash is ready to tango.
At the 2015 San Diego Comic Con, Ash vs. The Evil Dead held a panel and unleashed this amazing trailer onto the masses.

Along with Bruce Campbell, Sam and Ivan Rami are returning the Evil Dead fold, as both Ramis are stepping into the roles of executive producers. Also, Sam Rami will direct and co-write the debut episode of the series.
There are some new faces joining the mix as Ray Santiago, who plays Pablo Simon Bolivar and Dana Delorenzo, who plays Kelly Maxwell will join Ash on this new chapter. Also, Lucy Lawless enters the story as the mysterious Ruby.
As Hollywood seems to be lost when it comes to original ideas, it’s awesome to a classic getting the proper treatment. We can only hope that Starz treats this production correctly and we see a long life for Ash and the evil dead.

The Half Shelled Heroes Enter Gotham…

(Joshua Gilmore Staff Writer)

We still have a long wait until the dark knight rises on the big screen and faces off with the last son of krypton, but this November the Caped Crusader will cross paths with the heroes in a half shell. As announced during the recent San Diego Comic Con, IDW publishing and DC Comics will publish a crossover of Technodrome proportions.
In a six part miniseries, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the arch rival Shredder will enter Gotham City, after being forced out of their own dimension by the evil Krang. As they battle to return home, the turtles and shredder will cross paths with Batman.
When this news broke, the hardcore and fair weathered comic fan understood the magnitude of this event. Each franchise has historic legacy behind their characters and they are not strangers to reinvention or crossovers.
“Batman is the world’s most popular Super Hero. He continues to be reimagined and this new crossover showcases his ongoing appeal as a global pop icon for the ages,” said DC Comics Editor-in-Chief, Bob Harras.

As Batman is not a stranger to reinvention, the dark knight knows his way around a cross over or two. The world of Batman comics have had a revolving door similar to the guest stars list from the 1966 Batman television series. The storied history of Batman crossovers range from his shocking interaction with the MARVEL universe to the world of Tarazan and many other characters in between.

In their over 30 year history, the turtles have had their fair share of epic events and universe crossing. In one of their most recent crossovers, the turtles entered the universe of the Ghostbusters (another highly popular IDW title) and their universe jumping can be traced back to their first interactions with Usagi Yojimbo in the pages of 1987’s “Turtle Soup”
As the comic book world waits for these issues to hit the market, we know the story will be written by James Tynion IV and artist Freddie E. Williams II will handle the art for this series. Also, the co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Kevin Eastman and a yet-to-be name artist will create the variant covers for the crossover event.
